Bio

Best known for his Grammy and Mercury Award nominated album, Terror and Magnificence, which reached No.1 on the Billboard chart in 1997, Royal College of Music and Paris Conservatoire graduate John Harle is regarded as one of the world’s most influential classical saxophonists.

As a long-term member of The Michael Nyman Band – and with film and TV credits to his name including Stephen Frears’ Joe Orton biopic, Prick Up Your Ears, and BBC1’s Silent Witness – the reputation of John Harle as a world-ranking musician and composer is indisputable.
In addition to collaborating with, and orchestrating for, a wide range of musicians from Paul McCartney to John Tavener, Harle’s inimitable tones can also be heard on Jane Campion’s multi Academy Award winning movie, The Piano, and a number of Peter Greenaway films including The Cook The Thief His Wife & Her Lover (1989), Drowning by Numbers (1988) and The Draughtsman's Contract (1994)
